Millicent v South Gambier
Millicent is set to face South Gambier this Saturday at Malseed Park in the qualifying final.
The winner of this meeting will book their ticket into the grand final while the losing side will face off against West Gambier in the preliminary final.
Both teams have had very good seasons in 2024 with the minor premiers Millicent finishing with a record of 14-2 while the second placed South Gambier finished 11-5.
These sides faced each other three times this season with the Dees winning the first meeting and the Saints victorious in the next two.
Their first meeting back in round 4 was one of the best games of the season as the Dees came away with a one point victory, while the other two were not as close with Millicent winning by 54 and 13 points.
Heading into finals South have been in great form as they have won four out of their last five games with the Saints being very similar, as they too have won four of their last five games.
Some important players for the Saints heading into this game will be Sam Willis and Frazer Bradley.
All season Bradley has been a nightmare matchup for all opposition coaches with his speed and goal scoring ability in the forward line.
Once again Bradley had a great goal kicking season as he finished the year as the leading goal kicker by a large margin, kicking 54.
Bradley will be a top target for the Saints and someone the South defence will be keeping a close eye on.
This season Sam Willis has been a top player for the Saints with his work in the midfield and the forward line.
Willis has been a key player for the Saints in many of their fixtures this season and has been a big contributor too, finishing in the best players eight times.
Willis has also shown he can contribute on the scoreboard for Millicent, finishing the season with 21 goals and ninth overall in the goal kicking.
Two important players for the Dees in this game will be their two major goal scorers Brayden Kain and Elliott Fisher.
Both players have had similar statistical seasons in 2024 as they have both kicked 24 goals and finished in the side’s best in five games.
However they both bring different aspects to the game.
Kain brings a lot of leadership to this South side that has an abundance of youth in it which is very important come finals.
Fisher on the other hand brings a lot of excitement to the forward line and can provide a good boost when needed. He has been in great form over the past couple of games, kicking eight goals in his last two matches.
Overall this should be a very exciting game given how competitive both sides have been all season with the stakes being very high as they battle it out for a spot in the grand final.
B Grade
South Gambier V West Gambier
South Gambier is set to play West Gambier in the B Grade qualifying final.
Both sides have had very similar seasons with the Dees finishing as minor premiers with the Roos in second with a game separating them.
These sides have played four times this season with the Dees winning three times and the Roos winning once.
With both teams being very competitive all season this game should be a great one as they both look to lock their spot into the grand final.
U17.5
North Gambier v South Gambier Red
North Gambier will take on South Gambier Red in the U17.5 qualifying final.
Both sides were the two best all season as they both ended the season on 52 points.
However the Tigers edged out the Dees with a better percentage.
These sides have played twice this season with South winning both times by over 20 points.
As both teams have been streets ahead of everyone else this game should be a very competitive one.
