Happy new year for arts festivals

Apopular Mount Gambier arts festival will receive a funding boost as part of the Federal Government’s Round 13 of the Festivals Australia program.

Fringe Mount Gambier has been allocated $9000 for the Mount Gambier Fringe Festival project – Fringe OUTREACH.

Fringe OUTREACH will provide art experiences to be taken directly to positive aged community members living regionally, who experience barriers to accessing and participating in art events and experiences.”

Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin said the Festivals Australia program was helping to reunite regional and remote communities with arts and culture.

“Through this targeted funding, including the additional $2.4m provided through the Regional Arts Tourism Experiences package, we are providing access to a diverse range of high quality, innovative arts projects that will help boost tourism across Australia’s regions,” Mr Pasin said.

“We know that regional and remote artists, organisations and communities have been significantly affected by the pandemic, which is why this assistance is invaluable for the sector and is supporting a vibrant and sustainable future for festivals across Australia.”
