Hark now hear, the choir sing

Atime honoured pre-Christmas tradition continued in Millicent on Sunday when members of the Millicent Choral Society presented a carols concert.

Dubbed “Coffee, Cake and Carols”, it was held at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre as the original venue at the Millicent Uniting Church Hall was fire-damaged.

At the helm of the 18-strong Millicent Choral Society was its musical director, Michael Bleby.

The guest artists were 20 singers from Newbery Park Primary School under the direction of teacher Sarah Fewster and student accompanist Darrien Wright.

As in past years, Doris Bleby presented a whimsical account of Christmas traditions with her focus of 2022 being on Advent calendars and the use of tinsel.

There were also four favourite carols for the choir and audience to sing.

Proceeds from the admission fees were donated to the Millicent Community Christmas Appeal.

Special thanks were extended to Darcy Mullins who undertook the sound and lighting tasks.

The last rehearsal in 2022 for the Millicent Choral Society is on December 5 and then it has its customary summer recess.
