High school funds boost

AMount Gambier school will receive $6m in funds to be announced as part of Thursday’s upcoming State Budget.

Mount Gambier High School has been allocated the funding that will go towards a range of maintenance across the school such as air-conditioning, painting and carpeting.

The Education Department will work with the school to determine what their priorities are.

The funding allocation was announced ahead of the budget, which the government said would “have a strong focus on education, with school infrastructure a key component”.

Mount Gambier High School Principal Kym Grant welcomed the announcement.

“We are excited to receive the news of the $6m investment announcement by the Malinauskas Government to assist with facility upgrades and capacity expansions at Mount Gambier High School as part of the government’s education focus in the 2024/2025 State Budget,” he said.

“We look forward to working with the Department for Education and our school community to improve and expand our school facilities, ensuring our students have access to high quality education and learning opportunities at Mount Gambier High School.”
