Horses hail hay day

Mount Gambier’s Riding for the Disabled (RDA) has received a generous donation of 100 hay bales from Justin Jagger.

Riding for the Disabled Mount Gambier supplies a service to the South East riding community for disabled clients on a weekly basis, catering for those aged from 3-60 years old.

Mr Jagger has previously been involved with all the Mount Gambier Hay Runs, donating small bales for the initiative.

“Justin responded to a call for small pasture bales via our Facebook page and told us to come grab 100 bales,” Riding for the Disabled volunteer Zoe Simpson said.

The donation was a team effort with Zoe, Scott and Ava Simpson loading and unloading the hay while Jack and Abbey Gabrielli donated the use of the Beaurepaires truck to transport the materials.

“The hay will last the horses a good year until next season’s hay gets cut and it is good quality hay which we are very thankful for,” Miss Simpson said.

“It is going to help us at the RDA because hay starts to get very expensive and we are very grateful for the donation.”
