Hunting halted at Bool Lagoon

There will again be no duck or quail hunting in the Bool Lagoon Game Reserve in 2023 but hunting will be allowed at the Bucks Lake Game Reserve at Carpenter Rocks and the Lake Robe Game Reserve.

Strong populations of waterfowl will also allow for a duck and quail hunting season in other parts of South Australia this year.

The open duck hunting season for certain species will open on March 18 and close on June 25.

There will be a total bag limit of eight ducks per hunter per day and this is unchanged on the 2022 amount.

The stubble quail hunting season will run from April 29 until July 30 with an increased bag limit of 25 quail per hunter per day.

Firearms legislation and hunting regulations require all duck hunters to meet stringent conditions including passing a waterfowl identification test, using non-toxic shot and complying with the Standards for the Humane Destruction of Birds by Shooting.
