International v Naracoorte
International will host a winless Naracoorte side hoping to bounce back from its first loss of the season to Apollo in round four.
The black and blues will know they have the ability to recover after a loss with an exceptional year apart from that blemish.
International will also be confident as it sits on top of the table and will take on the side currently sitting last.
Naracoorte will hope to build on last week’s draw against Centrals that saw the side gain its first point of the season.
International has a dangerous attack that has kicked the most goals this season, and it will be hungry for goals after being kept to a clean sheet by Apollo last week.
The side will look to get back on track and put Naracoorte United to the sword early.
Naracoorte currently has the worst defence in the league with the most goals kicked against it with 18 from four games.
It will be a tough task to keep a team out that bar last week had been averaging over four goals every week.
Any result that is not a loss will be a big confidence booster for a team like Naracoorte that currently sits bottom against a quality opposition such as International.
Millicent v Apollo
Apollo caused an upset last week when it downed the previously unbeaten International side.
Apollo now faces a Millicent side that has been playing competitive soccer and looks certain to contest finals.
Millicent will be full of confidence after belting the reigning premiers Blue Lake 5-1 last week and will hope to carry that momentum into this matchup.
Millicent has played excellent attacking soccer so far this season and is led in attack by the league leading goal scorer Lana Shepherd.
Shepherd’s influence must be limited if Apollo is to beat Millicent, after a blistering start to the year.
Shepherd has been instrumental in her team’s three wins thus far kicking nine goals from four games, five more goals than anyone else in the league.
If Apollo can take her out of the game, it will negate a major scoring outlet for Milicent as Shepherd has currently kicked all but four of Millicent’s goals this year.
While Millicent’s attack has been impressive, so has Apollos’ defence, currently rated the best defence in the league.
Apollo has conceded only five goals from four games and held the best attack to a clean sheet last week.
It’ll be an exciting battle that will show the best the competition has to offer as the teams battle out for the chance to finish on top of the table.
For the loser they will remain safe in the top four with a long season ahead.
Centrals v Blue Lake
Blue Lake suffered a bad defeat at the hands of Millicent last week, after four rounds the defending premiers sit fourth and do not look the same side.
The Rangers still have a lot of time to improve and make a charge for top two but right now they need to improve if they are to be competitive come finals.
Centrals will hope the Rangers can carry their form from round four and can get away with an upset win that could be a season-defining victory.
It’s a great opportunity for Centrals as a win could have it sitting just two points out of the top four.
It will be a great confidence booster that could help turn around the season after a few disappointing results.
Round four saw Centrals pick up its first point in a draw against Naracoorte United and the side should be hungry for more now.
Blue Lake will look to score and pile on the goals to get its goal difference out of the negative, a factor that always plays a big role come finals.
It’s going to be an exciting contest between fourth and fifth, as both sides look to build some momentum in their seasons.
