Intruders win tight contest

Intruders defeated Hobitz 22-6 in the third round of the 2022 Mount Gambier Netball Association Under 13 A’s season at Olympic Park on Saturday.

Spectators were forced to take shelter from the cold and wet conditions to watch all the thrills and spills of junior netball and it did not disappoint.

Players from both teams struggled to keep their feet on a slippery court many times but all got back up to support their team and keep soldiering on.

In the first half of the game, Hobitz had great defence by goalkeeper Amelia Milne and excellent movement into the goal third with the help of wing attack Laycee Gowe.

Despite getting the ball down to the goal third many times throughout the game, Hobitz was rushed on the throw and appeared unsteady.

These mistakes allowed Intruders to march to an 8-3 head start early in the game.

Goal attack Neve Dycer worked hard scoring seven goals in the first term for the Intruders as one of the standouts.

Hobitz were no match for the Intruders defence as player of the round Jasmine Reed and goalkeeper Lauren White combined brilliantly.

Hobitz could not find a way past the duo and did not score in the entire second quarter.

Hobitz goal defence Reetinder Kaur did her best to stop the intruders scoring as half time brought some changes for both teams, but the lead kept growing.

Heading into the third quarter the scores were 14-3 but this did not deter Hobitz goal attack Amber Ferrari from speeding into gear and scoring three more goals for her team.

The intruders stuck with their winning formula in the fourth quarter to take home a convincing win.
