KNT sides brace for run home

The run home of the Bendigo Bank Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League will sort out the key positions for the coveted finals placings.

It is a season that looks to be closer than ever before as far as what the order of the final five is going to finish up in after the captivating minor rounds end at the end of August.

1st – Lucindale: 9-2, 36pts, 159.06% – Rd 12 Bordertown (H); Rd 13 Border Districts (A); Rd 14 Kybybolite (H); Rd 15 Padthaway (A); Rd 16 Kingston (H).

It has been a great season so far the Roos sitting two games clear on top of the ladder. They have had a few hiccups recently in losses to Naracoorte and Keith, so they will be looking to get back on track and secure top position which includes the double chance in the final five games.

2nd – Mundulla: 7-3-1, 30pts, 123.21% – Rd 12 Border Districts (H); Rd 13 Kybybolite (A); Rd 14 Padthaway (H); Rd 15 Kingston (A); Rd 16 Naracoorte (H).

The reigning premiers are in prime position to defend their title and go for a fourth KNTFL flag in a row. But if they want to secure the double chance the Tigers must overcome a couple of tests across the remaining five games.

3rd – Naracoorte: 7-4, 28pts, 138.72% – Rd 12 Padthaway (H); Rd 13 Keith (A); Rd 14 Kingston (A); Rd 15 Bordertown (H); Rd 16 Mundulla (A).

The Demons have won four in a row to get their season back on track and have made it into the top three. Naracoorte has a tough run home and would have earned the double chance if they can knock off Keith, Kingston and Mundulla in the remaining five rounds

4th – Keith: 7-4, 28pts, 133.52% – Rd 12 Penola (A); Rd 13 Naracoorte (H); Rd 14 Bordertown (H); Rd 15 Border Districts (A); Rd 16 Kybybolite (H).

The Crows have shown they are right in the mix after impressive back-to-back wins against Mundulla and Lucindale. The Crows are in a prime position to finish in a top three finish as they only play another top five side once.

5th – Kingston: 7-4, 28pts, 120.81% – Rd 12 Kybybolite (H); Rd 13 Padthaway (A); Rd 14 Naracoorte (H); Rd 15 Mundulla (H); Rd 16 Lucindale (A).

A loss against Border Districts sent Kingston falling from second to fifth and now the Saints have the hardest task of any of the top five teams to get a double chance. The Saints play three of the other four teams in the current top five and must give it everything to earn a spot in the top three.

6th – Border Districts: 5-6, 20pts, 91.61% – Rd 12 Mundulla (A); Rd 13 Lucindale (H); Rd 14 Penola (A); Rd 15 Keith (H); Rd 16 Bordertown (A).

A win against Kingston has opened a slimmer chance for the Eagles to make the finals, but they would need everything to go their way. The Eagles face Mundulla and Lucindale in the next two rounds and really need to win at least one of them to stay in the finals race. If they win both, suddenly their season would be back on again.

7th – Padthaway: 5-6, 20pts, 86.16% – Rd 12 Naracoorte (A); Rd 13 Kingston (H); Rd 14 Mundulla (A); Rd 15 Lucindale (H); Rd 16 Penola (A).

Much like Border Districts, Padthaway is on the outside of the five trying to find a way inside. The Lions however have a much harder task to make it as they face four of the top five teams in the last five rounds. Padthaway beat Naracoorte and Mundulla last time they faced, can they do the same again to start a change towards the finals.

8th – Bordertown: 3-7-1, 14pts, 85.83% – Rd 12 Lucindale (A); Rd 13 Penola (H); Rd 14 Keith (A); Rd 15 Naracoorte (A); Rd 16 Border Districts (H).

The Roosters started the season in blitzing fashion, now they will look to play the spoiler as they look to get a few wins to finish the season and shape the top five with a couple of upsets. The Roosters face Lucindale, Keith and Naracoorte in their final five games and a win or two against these teams, could be the difference to any of them not getting the double chance.

9th – Kybybolite: 3-8, 12pts, 67.44% – Rd 12 Kingston (A); Rd 13 Mundulla (H); Rd 14 Lucindale (A); Rd 15 Penola (H); Rd 16 Keith (A).

Can the Tigers cause an upset or two in the run home and give their fans something to cheer about. Four of the five games are against top five sides, but the clash against Penola could be their last great chance for a win. The Tigers will be fired up to finish the final five games strongly.

10th – Penola: 1-10, 4pts, 47.08% – Rd 12 Keith (H); Rd 13 Bordertown (A); Rd 14 Border Districts (H); Rd 15 Kybybolite (A); Rd 16 Padthaway (H).

The Eagles knew the season would be tough when they have mostly a young team. Penola has one win for the season and that was against Naracoorte in round 2 in a big upset. The Eagles will be looking to add to that win in the last five rounds. They enjoy a four-week run to the end against bottom six sides where they have a chance to taste some success before the season is over.
