Koonara toasts to fiesta success

The Koonara Summer Fiesta Pop-Up Wine Bar lit up the Cave Gardens on Friday evening and created a hive of activity in the heart of Mount Gambier.

Organisers have declared the event a resounding success, with approximately 700 people attending to enjoy a night out with friends and family accompanied by great wine, food and live music.

Koonara Wines director Nicole Reschke said she was excited with the success of the evening and amazed with how many people attended.

“It’s just such a great setting there in the garden, it’s really nice to have it so central in the town,” Ms Reschke said.

“We’re just so appreciative and grateful of the support that Mount Gambier gives these sort of events.”

While the weather looked ominous during the lead-up to the event, with rain and a thunderstorm in the afternoon, the skies cleared just in time.

Attendees enjoyed their favourite Koonara wines, Little Rippa beers and The Side Project ciders and Ms Reschke said she was pleased with wine sales.

There was a variety of local food vendors and music by DJ Corey, Michael Ferguson and Christo from Warrnambool and Brenton Williams.

Ms Reschke said she had received positive feedback with those attending welcoming the opportunity for a social outing after the last two years.

“We just really love being able to see our customers again face-to-face and have a good time with them and see them enjoying our wine at the events that we do,” she said.

“We have missed it, so it was really nice to be able to do it.

“It was really worthwhile for us and it’s the part of the business that we love the most, to be able to get in front of our customers and talk to them and see them having a good time, enjoying our wine.

“That’s the most rewarding part of everything.”

Koonara will hosting another Pop-Up Wine Bar in the Hamilton Botanical Gardens on Friday, March 18 and Ms Reschke said she was looking forward to the next event.
