Saturday’s KNT A Grade netball featured a tough hit out between Penola and Kybybolite.
There was plenty of physicality and contested ball, with both teams demonstrating they were in for a big game from the first whistle.
Kyby started strong in the first quarter while Penola found their feet with a slightly different line up this week taking a little longer to settle in.
The quarter time break had Kyby leading by three.
As Penola went in to the second quarter the Eagles started playing a more fluent and fast paced game while defence worked hard to get a few turnovers and slow some of the Tigers’ play.
At half time the score was level and Penola made a few changes in attack in hope to pull away.
The third quarter was back and forth with some accurate shooting from Kyby seeing them pull ahead by two.
Heading into the last quarter both teams hit the court very motivated to take the game.
With increased intensity and high pressure defence Penola crept back in the game as they slowed the play and got some important intercepts.
The Eagles took a brief lead but unfortunately the Tigers’ accuracy and clever defence along with a few errors from Penola saw Kyby pull away with a four goal win, 41-37.
Penola’s best players were Gorgia Robbie and Hannah Klemm.
