It may be several days before re-elected Liberal Member for MacKillop Nick McBride knows the outcome of his leadership bid.
The make-up of the House of Assembly is still uncertain as the counting of a record number of postal and pre-poll votes continues.
Outgoing Liberal Party leader and ex-Premier Steven Marshall said the party room would not meet until the outcome of Saturday’s election is known.
Mr McBride has signalled he may seek the role of Opposition Leader with speculation that former ministers David Speirs, Vincent Tarzia and John Gardner will also nominate.
Political insiders believe the party is unlikely to elect Mr McBride as he is a member of the minority Conservative faction.
