League leaders look to consolidate early positions at top of ladder

CASTERTON SANDFORD V
 NORTH GAMBIER

The Tigers are still searching for their first win this year so heading to Casterton to take on the Cats this week, North will be hungry for a win.

The Cats are coming off a solid game against East where they had a big five goal fourth quarter to get the win.

This week they will need to play like that if they want to pick up another win this season.

For North it’s about playing consistent footy, in their last two games against West and South they fell asleep a bit in a couple of quarters which forced them play catch up football in the final quarters.

Casterton’s Callum Currie and Harold Pritchard are both coming off great games and will need to keep that form this week against the Tigers.

North Gambier captain Jake Schutz will need to play well in the backline and be a big leader there.

The Cats have shown the damage they can do in last week’s game and Schutz will have to do a great job at slowing down the Cats attack if North wants to pick up their first win.

WEST GAMBIER V SOUTH GAMBIER

South has got off to a great start this year, starting undefeated whereas West have been a bit up and down so far.

South are coming off a statement win against North last week and will be liking their chances again this

week.

The Roos are coming off a disappointing loss to Millicent last week where they collapsed in the second half, kicking only one goal in the half.

For the Demons to win they will need to keep playing their style of football which is quick and high intensity.

This would suit the players on the team which is full of young athletic players with a sprinkle of experienced players in every
 position.

For the Roos to succeed they will need to play consistently for both halves of footy.

They will not find themselves winning games this year if they only kick one goal in a half.

For South to make some damage they will need their forward line duo of Elliot and Harry Fisher to have a dominant game.

Last week they both did well making leads but struggled converting on set shots.

For West, Jordan Williams will need to step up in this game.

Williams is currently leading the team in goals and he will definitely need to be kicking some this week.

West Gambier will take on South Gambier at Malseed Park.

MILLICENT V EAST GAMBIER

East Gambier will head to Millicent to take on the Saints in a twilight game this Saturday.

The Doggies will have their backs against the wall in this game as they are still looking for their first win.

So far the reigning premiers have looked very dominant and this week will look to continue their elite form.

In both of East’s games they have shown flashes of good play and they will need to turn these flashes into consistent quarters of footy.

For Millicent they need to stick to playing their physical style of footy and to continue dominating the contest by putting their opposition’s backline in constant pressure with repeat forward 50 entries.

East Gambier’s Shaun Lock is coming off a great game against the Cats and will be needing to play like that again this week to give the Doggies a chance.

Frazer Bradley has had a great start to the season with his goal kicking for the Saints, currently leading the league in goals with nine.

He will have to be a big target as East will be paying close attention to him this week.
