The Grant District Council community is being asked to review and provide feedback on the proposed renewal of three Country Fire Service depot lease and licence agreements at Port MacDonnell, Blackfellows Caves and Donovans.
The CFS advised council it wished to exercise the renewal option for all current CFS depot agreements, excluding the Yahl Lease and Licence Agreement which will continue after its expiry on a monthly holding over period until the construction of a new depot was completed.
Deputy Mayor Gill Clayfield said the agreements were due to expire within the next 12 months and were currently instated for a 21 years, with the option to extend for a further 21 years.
“Council is keen to support the extension of the volunteer emergency service,” she said.
“Their continuous operation within the council area benefits the district by providing invaluable fire and rescue services.”
Ms Clayfield said, due to all proposed renewal periods exceeding the five year exception to the requirements under section 202 of the Local Government Act 1999 (the Act), council was required to conduct community consultation.
Head to the Your Say DCG website at www.yoursaydcg.com.au to review all Lease and Licence Agreements and submit your comments. Alternatively, contact council to complete a hard copy feedback form. Feedback will be received until June 29.
Feedback submitted throughout the consultation period will be presented to council for consideration on July 4.
