Library off limits

The children’s library at the Millicent Public Library is currently out-of-bounds.

Wattle Range Council engineering services director Peter Halton said his staff have boarded up the children’s learning space due to water ingress to eliminate the risk to the public and to enable access to the roof space to rectify the leak.

He said his staff are also working to remove all items on the plant platform above the learning space with the replacement equipment to be placed at ground level to allow for the roofing contractor to access the failed roof.

Mr Halton said his staff have also completed drawings to replace the 30-year-old library roof and air conditioners.

“Tender documentation is being the prepared with the tender to let later in the year after the elections and caretaker period,” Mr Halton said.
