ARobe licensed premises has been fined for breaching COVID restrictions as part of a police operation.
Investigators from the Licensing Enforcement Branch undertaking COVID-19 compliance duties have issued a $5000 fine to a licensed venue at Robe for breaches of the Emergency Management Activities Direction.
A SAPOL spokesperson said it would be alleged late on Friday the venue was not complying with social distancing requirements and the wearing of masks.
“It will be alleged that many patrons were standing for consumption and some singing and dancing,” the spokesperson said.
“The alleged breaches within a licensed premises represent aggravated behaviours contrary to the State Coordinator’s Directions and are a focus of Operation Limit.
“The alleged failure of the venue to comply potentially puts the public and staff at risk,” the spokesperson said.
“The breaches of the EMA will be referred to the Liquor & Gambling Commissioner for consideration for further action under the Liquor Licensing Act.
“Licensing Enforcement Branch officers will continue to focus efforts within the Limestone Coast and other areas where suspected breaches of directions are occurring.”
