Lions club extends support

The Lions Club of Mount Gambier extended financial donations last week to selected groups across the community as the club reached the climax of a very successful year.

Financial support was extended to numerous groups to support their operations within the city and beyond following a very successful celebration of the club’s 60th year of service.

The executive and membership wished to recognise the support the community had extended to Lions throughout the past year by in turn supporting selected organisations who give so much to the city and its people.

Organisations including the Royal Flying Doctor, In Home Hospice Care, Four Reasons Why, Sunset Kitchen, Mount Gambier City Band and the local RSL all received support to continue their valuable community service.

Guest also recently gathered for the club’s changeover dinner at the RSL where president Stephen Bell was celebrated for a successful year and had the honour of presenting a Melvin Jones Fellowship to past president Peter Pignotti.

Past president Robin Conboy OAM was presented with a life membership for his long and outstanding service to the community through the Lions Club of Mount Gambier.

The induction of the incoming board for 2023-24 and president Beccy Field was undertaken by District Governor Ruth Pearsons who happens to be Beccy’s sister, which made the occasion a special moment for them both.

Mr Bell, as outgoing president, thanked the club members for their support over the past year and wished the incoming president and board a successful year ahead.
