Locals tear up big stage

The Limestone Coast is well represented in the AFL with plenty of home-grown players starring on the national stage.

The SE Voice’s sports journo Will Boston takes a look at how our locals fared in Round 16.

Lachie Neale

Lachie Neale once again had a big game for the Lions on Friday night, contributing 29 disposals, nine marks and six clearances in the win over the Dees.

Once again Neale was always important with the team’s scoring as he had seven score involvements.

Neale and the Lions should have a good match-up this week as they take on the Crows at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon.

Tom McDonald

Tom McDonald had a solid game against the Lions on Friday night with 18 disposals, four marks and three tackles.

McDonald did well at moving the footy as he had four rebound 50s.

In defence McDonald was amazing as he had a season high 15 spoils.

This week the Dees take on the Eagles at the G on Sunday.

Toby Pink

Toby Pink did not have a big impact on Saturday against the Doggies as he finished the game with five disposals, one mark and two tackles.

Pink was solid in the forward line as he had a goal assist and a score involvement.

Jordan Dawson

Dawson had 24 disposals, 10 marks, three tackles and four clearances.

Defensively the captain was great as he had four intercept marks and two contested marks.

The Crows leader used the ball well as he had a 75% disposals efficiency in the game.

This week Dawson and the Crows travel to Brisbane to take on the Lions on Sunday.

Darcy Fogarty

Darcy Fogarty had a very good game on Saturday against the Giants.

The Fog had 13 disposals, six marks and three goals in the win.

Fogarty could have had more goals as he had two behinds as well.

To add to his goals he was also involved in seven scores in the game.

Fogarty was strong in the marking contests as he had three contested marks and three marks inside 50.

This week Fogarty has a tough game as the Crows take on the Lions at the Gabba.

Mitch Hinge

Mitch Hinge had another great game on Saturday as he continues to have a stand out year.

Hinge had 31 disposals, eight marks and three tackles in the win.

Hinge continues to be a key piece in the Crows defence as he had five rebound 50s.

He did a good job at getting involved with the team’s scoring as he had a score launch and five score involvements.

This week Hinge will have a tough task as the Crows take on the Lions.

Jeremy Cameron

Cameron had 12 disposals, three marks and two goals in the win.

Jezza was not kicking at his best on Saturday as he had three behinds to go along with his two goals.

Brad Close

Brad Close had a bit of a quieter game on Saturday night against the Bombers.

Close had 10 disposals, three marks, six tackles and a goal.

The former Northie was once again great at setting up teammates for scores as he had a goal assist and five score involvements.
