Lucindale has field day as Crows wings clipped

Round four of the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League produced some more early surprises in a season that’s promising to be one of the best in its history.

Keith’s unbeaten run to start the season came to an end when Lucindale proved to be too strong on the day. The Crows had poor kicking for goal in the second half of the contest and the Roos took full advantage to get the victory. Jay Schultz led the way with four goals in the victory for the Roos.

Riley McFarlane and Jack Yates kicked two goals each to help the Roos get across the line as well.

Riley Mcfarlane, Jack Yates and Riley Milne were Lucindale’s best players.

The Crows had three goal kickers in the game with Aaron Young being the most prolific with four kicked during the contest.

Aaron Young, Aydon Innes and Seb Schreiber were Keith’s best players.

Mundulla came from 21 points down against Border Districts at three quarter time to get over the top of the Eagles in the fourth quarter on Saturday. The Eagles led at every change of ends until the Tigers produced the big last quarter.

William Nankivell and Billy Wiese kicked three goals each in the victory for the Tigers.

James Hinge, Nathan Studham and Jacob Grosser were the best players in the victory for Mundulla.

Dylan Schoenmakers led the way for Border Districts with four goals and was assisted in the scoring by Mark Quinn and Joshua Richards who kicked two goals each.

Dylan Schoenmakers, Isaac Hewson and Dylan Auciello were the Eagles’ best players.

Bordertown had a percentage-boosting victory against Naracoorte by 131 points at Naracoorte on the weekend. The Roosters took control early in the game and never looked back. Jacob Eats dominated in the forward lines by kicking eight goals in the win.

Harrison Fromm, Harrison Jolly and Troy Blackwell were Bordertown’s best players.

Naracoorte battled hard all game but could only get two goal-kickers for the game.

William Limbert and Sam Logan were the Demons’ only goal-kickers.

Tommy Anderson, William Limbert and Jack duRand were Naracoorte’s best players.

Kybybolite continued their good form when they accounted for Padthaway by 57 points. The Tigers are rounding into some solid form and recorded back-to-back wins for the first time in 2024.

Stephen Craig and Billy Laurie were standouts in front of the goals with four goals each.

Billy Laurie, Jack Trengove and Andrew Bradley were the Tigers’ best players.

Padthaway tried hard all game and got two goals each from Mitch Minns and Jordan Hooper to be their leading goal-kickers in the contest.

Jacob Fiebiger, Nathan McCarthy and Kiefer Scharkie were the Lions’ best players.

Penola won their second game of the season after they were able to pull away from Kingston in the final quarter. The game was tight for three quarters as each team refused to give an inch. Penola was able to maintain the momentum and get on top of Kingston in the fourth quarter and record an impressive 27 point victory. Brodie Foster led the way with four goals in the victory.

Garrett Ha and Brad Merrett were also good in front of the goals with three goals each.

Jak Ryan, Jayden Eldridge and Bradley Merrett were the Eagles’ best players.

Kingston had leading goal kickers in William Watts who kicked three goals and Jack Armfield added two goals as the Saints tried hard to get across the line.

William Watts, Campbell Watts and Mackenzie Slee were the Saints best players.

Round five is a split round as there are only two games being played this weekend and the remaining three games will be played the following weekend on May 18.

Border Districts hosts Naracoorte at Goroke on Saturday and this looks to be a mismatch between the two teams. The Eagles have stumbled in recent weeks and will look to get back on the winners’ list this weekend. The Demons are struggling to kick scores and being such a young core group.

Matthew Maney, Riley McMullan, William Limbert, Tommy Anderson and Matt Willson have been the early standouts for the Demons this season.

Naracoorte will look to be more competitive against the Eagles this Saturday while Border Districts will be banking on their more experienced players standing up this weekend and delivering the victory.

Dylan Schoenmakers, Zac Richards, Isaac Hewson and Joshua Richards will pose problems for Naracoorte all game long.

The Eagles should win comfortably.

Bordertown will be favourites to continue their good form against Padthaway on Saturday. The Roosters recruits are firing and the team is looking good early in the season. Jaidan Kappler, Troy Blackwell and Billy Hayes have been welcomed additions so far this season. Jacob Eats is looking strong in the forward lines. Jacob and Thomas form a strong duo that is hard for any team to counter against. Padthaway has been competitive this year so far as well.

The Lions have some good players in Jordan Hooper, Jacob Fiebiger, Danny Juckers and Mitchell Minns to lead the way in most games.

The overall depth of the team is where the top teams might catch them out.

This is where the Roosters will have the upper hand in the contest.

Bordertown should be too deep for the Lions to handle and come away with a five-goal victory.
