Mac Park mastered

MacNamara Park is set for an action-packed long weekend with the running of the 2022 Master of Mac Park, which will also coincide with round 4 of the South Australian State Championships.

Having started in 1976, the prestigious race continues to crown many champions with some of the country’s best riders set to tear up the Mac Park track.

Club President Alex Trnovsky said organisers were excited and looking forward to the weekend’s racing.

“We have 80 nominations and will include some big names that will be here,” he said.

“Dual winner of the event Arthur Sissis from Adelaide will be back to defend his crown.

“Along with Ted Collins for Warrnambool who was the 2017 Australian 600 super sport champion and is also currently leading the South Australian and Victorian titles.

There will be three to four rounds of state championship races before the Master of Mac Park standalone feature race takes to the circuit.

“Most grids will have plenty of numbers on them as well,” Trnovsky said.

Sissis has previously shown his speed and determination around the Mac Park track and is looking to again be unstoppable with the rest of the field trying to catch him before the chequered flag.

Local ASBK support Dallas Skeer will lead the charge for the locals and looks a good chance of becoming the Master drawing on his inside info on his home track along with Declan Carberry on his 600, who has also proven to be quick around Mac Park.

Club organisers and race day officials have been remarkably busy in the lead up to the event getting the grounds and the track right for racing and will be hoping for a dry day after last year’s event was run in wet conditions.

The race meet will also feature juniors and sidecars to support the program throughout the three days of racing.

Racing in the sidecars will be locals David and Stephen Jones who usually race together but this year will take to the track on separate bikes and look sure to have a good tussle come the weekend.

Practice sessions will run on Friday and Saturday morning will host the qualifying before the main race takes place Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

The club has full catering and bar facilities available with entry $10 per day and under 16 will be free.
