Market events return to Millicent Showgrounds

Amoney-spinner and popular social activity recently returned for the Millicent Show Society.

After an absence of three years due to COVID, the Millicent Showgrounds Markets are again being regularly staged on a fortnightly basis.

Stalls were set up in the hall which usually holds the yearly school exhibits.

Although there was only a small number of stalls, Millicent Show Society officials expect this number will grow.

Society secretary Sue Vanderheul said Saturday was chosen as the market day as people will be out and about doing their shopping.

“There will be one Sunday market on November 6 on the third day of the Millicent Show,” Ms Vanderheul said.

“This market will be outdoors and be a car boot sale as the hall will still be full of exhibits.

“We are running the markets as we want to utilise the showgrounds and they will bring people to Millicent.

“Profits from the markets will go into the general revenue for the Millicent Show Society.”

Among the shoppers at the most recent market were Millicent sisters Margie Cabot and Jan Hales.

“We are hoping to find some household bargains and we like to support the markets,” Ms Cabot said.
