Medi-hotel stream steady

Mount Gambier’s medi-hotel continues to host a steady stream of people forced to undertake COVID-19 quarantining.

Limestone Coast Local Health Network chief executive Ngaire Buchanan said a total of 156 guests had successfully quarantined at the medi-hotel since it opened.

Ms Buchanan said the medi-hotel continued to provide an added safety net for the community to the border controls that were in place and safely supported those who need to quarantine within the Limestone Coast.

“We have also seen steady numbers in people present for testing at the Mount Gambier COVID-19 testing station since it relocated to the showgrounds in September,” she said.

“High levels of testing have played a significant role in our ongoing response to COVID-19 and it is important that we continue to do everything we can to not undo all the good and stop the spread of COVID-19 in our region.

“The community so far have done a fantastic job maintaining social distance and getting tested when they’ve shown symptoms of COVID-19 and we encourage anyone, no matter how mild their symptoms, to continue to get tested and maintain good hand hygiene and physical distancing.”
