MG Plasterers SECBL results Round 8 Winter 2021

Men

Bulldogs 82 (S Berkefeld 23, B Young 18) defeated Cougars 69 (T de Wit 31, M Kuot 17) It was the top two teams facing off in this contest, the Cougars hoping to close the gap between the undefeated Bulldogs.

Toby de Wit continued his high scoring season as he managed to slice his way through the Bulldogs defence as well as find his touch from range.

The Bulldogs managed to have four players read double figures led by Simon Berkefeld with 23, showing their supreme chemistry and ball movement scoring at will against the Cougars defence.

Women

Saints 56 (P Venn 15, M Pulmer 15) defeated Cougars 46 (E Dawe 18, M Horrigan 13) The Cougars went into this game without leading scorer Sarah Ritter and the Saints took full advantage.

Emily Dawe battled hard for the Cougars in the absence of Ritter top scoring with 18 points, it was the Saints who were continually putting pressure on the rim and gaining second shots to maintain their lead.

Young star Poppy Venn was influential with 15 points for the Saints.

The win keeps the Saints in touch with a top two finish.

Bulldogs/Roos 52 (M Griffith 16, S Adams 12) defeated Panthers 37 (T Bryant 12, N Facey 9) The Bulldogs Roos managed their second win of the season against the Panthers.

In a low scoring game the Panthers were held to 37 points as they struggled to find and make open looks at the hoop.

Young star Macey Griffith topped scored with 16 points for the Roodogs using her speed and driving ability to find openings.

Siobhan Adams continued her positive season creating scoring opportunities for her teammates as well as scoring 12 points of her own.

Tara Bryant led the Panthers with 12 points and was well supported by Nikeisha Facey with 9.
