Millicent blaze not suspicious

Police have determined there were no suspicious circumstances regarding a fire at the Millicent Uniting Church hall on November 12.

The blaze created an amount of smoke and the alarm was raised at 12.40pm.

The CFS sent fire appliances from Millicent, Rendelsham, Glencoe and Tantanoola to the scene and the volunteer firefighters donned breathing apparatus.

The hall was due to host a Christmas carols concert by the Millicent Choral Society and the Newbery Park Primary School Choir on Sunday afternoon.

The concert dubbed “Coffee, Cake and Carols” has now been transferred to the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre.
