Memorial trees to honour our late sovereign lady Queen Elizabeth are currently being planted in all 13 towns of the Wattle Range Council area.
A recent council meeting had endorsed the request for such an action from Millicent post-war migrant from the United Kingdom Alice Cruickshanks.
She had made the request for a memorial tree in Millicent in a letter to Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll and also lobbied him face-to-face.
“I think the memorial tree would be a fitting tribute to Her Late Majesty,” Ms Cruickshanks said.
She was pleased to lend a hand last week when the first English Oak was planted in Millicent’s Jubilee Park.
