Millicent saleyards support

AMillicent lobby group has again called on Wattle Range Council to retain the local cattle saleyards.

The Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group has repeatedly backed the saleyards in recent years and has responded on social media to the latest council-initiated survey about the future of the 48-year-old facility.

“We believe the Wattle Range Council needs to consider the mental health impacts that may be a result for our local farming community if the decision is made to close our Millicent saleyards,” stated the group.

“Research has indicated that stakeholders that attend the saleyards build a sense of connection and belonging through positive social interactions such as: sharing stories, a smile, shaking hands, networking, learning about best practice and industry development.”

The Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group has called on the community to take this opportunity to read through the latest information from council and complete the online survey before the May 5 deadline.
