Millicent teammates turn rivals for charity cricket match

Millicent footballers Clint Gallio (coach) and Jacob Carger (captain) are about to briefly become “enemies” in the name of charity.

They are rightly credited for much of the premiership success of the Saints in the Western Border Football League in recent seasons.

The good mates are now behind a T20 cricket match under lights at Millicent’s McLaughlin Park from 6pm on January 25.

The light-hearted twilight game between Team Gallio and Team Carger should draw a large and vocal crowd as the following day is a public holiday for Australia Day.

All money raised will go to the Cancer Council.

In between innings, there’s a number of items up for auction and there will be a barbecue, keg beer and a raffle.

During summer, Carger is handy with bat and ball for the Rendelsham Cricket Club and helped the team to the 2021/22 premiership in the Millicent/Naracoorte Cricket Association.

On the other hand, Gallio’s abilities as a cricketer are largely unknown.

The identity of the 20 other players in the T20 match will be announced in the near future.

The T20 match will provide a lively social outlet ahead of Millicent’s football premiership defence which commences in April.
