Mixed day out for Penola bowlers

The Lower South East Bowls Association played its 11th round of pennants on the weekend.


The Ladies Division 1 team played Robe at Penola and won 61 shots to 39, seeing them sit 5th on the ladder.


The rink skippered by Meredith Hinze won 36 shots to 14 and the rink skippered by Kaye Batt had a draw.


The Ladies Division 2 team played Naracoorte at Naracoorte and lost 38-55.


The rink skippered by Kathy Brooks drew 21 shots each.


Penola is now 6th on the ladder.


There will be a break for the ladies until January 19.


The Penola Division 2 team played Kingston at Penola and lost by 10 shots, 73-83.


The rink skippered by Scott Degenhardt was Penola’s only winning rink.


The Penola Division 2 team is now 4th on the ladder.


The Division 3 North team played Naracoorte at Naracoorte and was beaten by 59-81.


The rink skippered by Wayne Wachtel won by 14 shots and now sits 8th on the ladder.


The Division 3 South team played Millicent at Penola and won 82-70 to sit 6th on the ladder.


The rink skippered by Adrian Wicks was Penola’s only winning rink.


The Open Pennants will have a break until January 13.


The Night Bowls competition will have a break until January 24.


This has been one of the most successful night competitions that Penola has held as there has been a different winner every week.


Any interested bowlers are always welcome to join in on Wednesday nights.


Any potential players who are not in a team are welcome and can be placed with others in a team.


Night Bowls commences with a barbecue from 5.45pm with games commencing at 6.30pm.


Social Bowls is held every Wednesday afternoon. Anybody is welcome to play and is requested to be at the club by 1pm.
