Monster fun arrives in city

The upcoming Monster Carnival will bring fun for the whole family to the Mount Gambier Showgrounds this weekend.

Monster Trucks Carnival event organiser Troy Garcia said he was looking forward to bringing the exciting event to Mount Gambier.

The action-packed carnival will have entertainment for adults and children alike, with motorbikes doing backflips, monster trucks, amusement rides, car stunts and light-hearted entertainment.

“This show will make memories that will stick with people for the rest of their lives, how much fun they had,” Garcia said.

“Some like the motorbikes doing their backflips, some like the monster trucks, some like the novelty events, cars jumping and flying through the air, cars getting crushed.”

There will be plenty of carnival food and beverage treats including Dagwood dogs, hot chips, burgers, fairy floss, coffees and ice creams.

The gates open at 12pm and people can bring blankets and chairs and settle in for a great afternoon full of entertainment, with the event finishing just before dark.

Attendees who wish to leave the event and return again later can obtain an out pass.

There will be six monster trucks at the carnival, with four of them ‘performing trucks’, including a wheel-standing monster truck.

Two of them are ‘ride trucks’ where people can hop in and go for a few laps around the circuit.

Garcia said the Blue Lake City had to brace itself for some of the best monster truck action in the country.

“You have really got the best monster trucks in Australia which are exactly the same as monster trucks that you see on television coming to this show,” he said.

“Two of our performing trucks we have got at this show are performing at the Brisbane exhibition ground.

“The rides trucks are very popular, kids really enjoy it, so that’s something that happens throughout the course of the whole time the gates are open and will continue until every last person’s had a ride.

“We’re really hoping the locals get behind this event, support it and come along.”
