Mount Gambier Show springs to action

The much-loved GEM Mount Gambier Spring Show will be back in full force this weekend.

Last year’s show was scaled back and divided into three sessions due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions while the 2020 show was cancelled.

Mount Gambier Agricultural and Horticultural Society immediate past president Danielle Tulak said organisers had reverted to the full format which means two jam-packed days have been planned.

“We just hope the community are keen to get involved after COVID-19 and see big events back in their usual format,” she said.

“It’s just a great event that has been running for 161 years.

“We have got lots of family entertainment, so we hope that everyone is super keen to be back as we normally are.”

Mrs Tulak said there would be entertainment favourites like Jetpack Entertainment and Dinkum Dinosaurs as well as new acts Flying Flamingos, BalloonAddict Bruce and Rev It Up Racing.

“There will be plenty for the kids with free face painting and henna tattoos as well as craft activities courtesy of Bunnings Warehouse,” she said.

“The Agricultural Learning Centre is back with schools visiting during this week.

“We have lots of community groups coming in and cooking food such as the Karenni group that has just started at the market, who will be running out of our hall kitchen this year.

“There will be Scouts, Lions and Rotary catering this year as well.”

Tickets are only available online and can be purchased through ticketing partner Ticketebo or through the show’s website at www.mgshow.com.au, with the event concluding ‘with a bang’ on Saturday night with the 9pm fireworks lighting the night’s sky.
