Gambier Centrals v Portland Panthers
Centrals and Portland faced off twice this weekend as the two sides played a rescheduled Barry Maney Premier League game along with their usual round 11 match up.
On Friday night Centrals picked up the first win of the weekend, with the two sides playing again in Portland where Centrals secured a second win.
On Friday night it was a big win for Centrals at MGA Park as they continued their undefeated campaign.
The night started on a rough note for the Panthers after their goal keeper Stephen Arthur went down with an injury just six minutes in.
It did not take long for Centrals to get the lead as Sam Shoemark scored the opening goal after 12 minutes of play.
Shortly after Centrals found the back of the net again as Lewis March and Meereh Htoo scored two great goals, and at half time Centrals held a three goal lead.
In the second half Centrals picked up where they left off as Shoemark scored the opening goal.
Centrals continued to dominate the match as Htoo was able to get another goal on the board, making it five for the night.
Late in the match the Panthers found a bit of success as Dylan Murray scored the lone goal for Portland.
Centrals responded almost immediately as Christian Fleetwood finished the match strong with a goal.
Centrals defeated Portland 6-1.
On Sunday the two sides faced off in Portland with Centrals picking up the win in a competitive contest.
It did not take long for Centrals to take control of the match and get the lead as Sam Shoemark scored the opening goal from a penalty shot just nine minutes in.
Portland’s chances of getting back into the game were made much harder late in the first half as Dominyk Rice was sent off with a red card.
Centrals then struck again as Jake Blackwell found the net right before the half time break.
At half time Centrals held a two goal lead.
In the second half it was a grind for both sides as they dug in defensively, with neither side able to score, enabling Centrals to come away with the three points.
Centrals defeated Portland 2-0.
Naracoorte United v Blue Lake
Blue Lake secured the crucial three points on Sunday in a thrilling contest against Naracoorte United in Naracoorte.
Naracoorte started the game strong as they were able to take an early lead when Mujtaba Hussaini found the back of the net, giving his side the lead 27 minutes in.
After holding the lead for most of the half Blue Lake were able to tie the match up as Shar Ney Than scored a penalty late in the half, and at half time it was all tied up one goal apiece.
The second half was a competitive contest as both sides failed to score for most of the term.
Late in the half Blue Lake finally broke through as Shar say La scored the lead taking goal which was shortly followed by a penalty from Gay Nai Hsar.
As a result of the penalty Naracoorte’s Habibullah Hussainzadah was shown a second yellow card and sent off.
With a man down Naracoorte continued to fight as they were able to get a goal back very late in the match as AliAkbar Qalandari found the back of the net.
However time had run out and Blue Lake had done just enough to get the victory.
Blue Lake defeated Naracoorte United 3-2.
Apollo v Millicent
It was a history-making day for Apollo as they took on Millicent United and came away with a big win.
Kyra Kuchel was in goals for Apollo, making club history as the first female player to play and score in a senior men’s A Grade game.
Apollo started the match well with Caine Ellis scoring the opening goal early on.
Millicent then did well to hold off Apollo for most of the half, however Apollo were able to finish on a strong note with three quick goals from Brett Stephenson, Cameron Wallace and Moo bya Say.
At half time Apollo held a four goal lead.
Apollo continued their dominant control of the match in the second term as they refused to allow Millicent to create many chances.
Tobbei Kennett opened the scoring early on in the second half for Apollo.
Late in the half Apollo was awarded a penalty with goalkeeper Kyra Kuchel converting and scoring her first senior goal as well as being the first female to score a senior goal in Apollo club history.
Apollo finished strong with Tyler Stockwell scoring two quick goals along with Jakob Hann getting on the scorers list.
Apollo defeated Millicent United 9-0.

Gambier Centrals v Portland Panthers
Gambier Centrals and the Portland Panthers kicked off the weekend with their first of two games against each other on Thursday, night with Centrals picking up the win at home under the lights.
It was a competitive contest in the first half with neither side able to take the lead early on.
That changed in the back end of the half as Kiah Connolly got Centrals on the board with a penalty conversion.
Centrals started strong in the second period with two quick goals in a short amount of time as Jasmine Siemon and Andi Corfield both found the back of the net.
Centrals continued to ride the momentum as Sherridan Picken scored goal number four for the night, 10 minutes into the half.
The Panthers saw a bit of success late in the half, however it came off the boot of Centrals’ Siemon as she scored an own goal.
The Panthers could not add to their total after that as Centrals ran home with the three points on Thursday night.
Gambier Centrals defeated Portland Panthers 4-1.
On Sunday the two sides faced off again in what was a much more competitive contest.
Not much separated the two sides in the first half as the opening goal eluded them, with scores all tied up 0-0 at half time.
The second half was a similar story as it was another tight battle and neither side could find the match winning goal, ending in a goalless draw.
Portland Panthers drew with Gambier Centrals 0-0.
Naracoorte United v Blue Lake
Blue Lake picked up a huge win on Sunday as they took down Naracoorte United in Naracoorte with only a narrow gap now between the two sides.
Blue Lake started strong, scoring in the opening 10 minutes as Aimee Brooks found the back of the net.
Naracoorte did well to stop the bleeding for a bit, refusing to allow any more quick goals.
However Blue Lake’s pressure was too strong and they were able to add their lead late in the half as Brooks scored a penalty.
At half time Blue Lake held a two goal lead.
Blue Lake continued to cause problems for Naracoorte in the second half and made their day difficult as Brooks scored another goal 15 minutes in.
Late in the half Blue Lake put the game to bed as Terasa Nearmy scored the final goal and helped secure the important win.
It was a big day for Blue Lake’s Aimee Brooks, finishing with a hat trick.
After this win there is only one point separating Naracoorte and Blue Lake on the ladder.
Blue Lake defeated Naracoorte United 4-0.
Apollo v Millicent
Apollo had another big win on Saturday as they hosted Millicent United.
Apollo wasted no time in taking the lead as Toni Ingley-Smith scored in the opening minute.
Not long after Apollo continued to add to the scoreboard as Rylee Kuchel, Gabriel Tentye and Ingly-Smith all found the back of the net.
After the fast flurry of goals Millicent were able to get a response as Jamey Grgetic scored Millicent’s lone goal for the day.
Apollo finished the first half well as Ingley-Smith scored another while Deni Maxwell and Zoe Brooksby both got on the scorers list.
At half time Apollo held a six goal lead.
Apollo continued to rain goals in the new half as Brooksby scored again.
Millicent’s defence continued to struggle as Rebekah Lamb and Emmie Leibhardt scored goals number nine and 10.
Apollo kept their foot on the pedal till the final whistle as Brooksby scored again along with another from Ingley-Smith.
It was a big performance from Toni Ingley-Smith, scoring four goals while Zoe Brooksby finished with a hattrick.
Apollo defeated Millicent United 12-1.
