Wattle Range Council gets down to business this afternoon when the first official meeting of the incoming 2022-26 council is held in the Millicent council chambers.
All elected members will swear an oath before a Justice of the Peace at 4pm before the meeting commences an hour later.
Councillors and senior staff had held an informal workshop at this venue on Friday.
The day-long workshop included a significant amount of training for the new elected members.
Mayor Des Noll and the 11 new and returning councillors are required to undergo compulsory training on changes to the Local Government Act.
The training is a requirement for all 68 councils and is being delivered by personnel from an Adelaide law firm as well as the Local Government Association of South Australia.
Today’s meeting will elect a deputy mayor and appoint representatives to council sub-committees and outside organisations.
Other routine business such as staff reports, financial statements and correspondence are on the agenda.
