New deputy elected

Grant District Council has elected a new deputy mayor with Councillor Bruce Bain stepping in to the role for the next 12 months.

The two-person ballot was between Cr Bain and Cr Brad Mann.

Outgoing deputy Mayor, Cr Megan Dukalskis nominated Cr Mann for the position, while Cr Barry Kuhl nominated Cr Bain.

In August last year Cr Bain was acknowledged for his 20 years of service to Grant District Council.

With more than 35 years in the dairy industry, Cr Bain has brought his agricultural experience to the council.

He has been on numerous committees including Mount Gambier and District Saleyards, Mount Gambier Regional Airport and Development Assessment Panel.

In the community Cr Bain has been treasurer of Port MacDonnell Football Club treasurer, Mount Gambier Tennis Association president, Allendale East Area School council member and inducted life member of Mount Schank Tennis Club.
