New director appointed to McArthur Park Kindergarten

Millicent local Jo Wilson has taken the role of McArthur Park Kindergarten director for a 4.5-year tenure.

Ms Wilson had previously spent several years as the director at Kalangadoo Kindergarten and comes to the facility with a wealth of knowledge in the early years learning.

Ms Wilson joins teacher Tracey Phillips and early childcare worker Lisa Moon and is passionate about early education and the strong foundation it gives to children.

Ms Wilson said she enjoyed cooking, camping, reading and music. She is also heavily involved within the local sporting community as a player in the Millicent netball/football club and basketball.

McArthur Park Kindergarten operates Tuesday, Wednesday and alternate Thursdays with playgroup held on the even Thursday. The kindy offers early entry for Aboriginal children and for children in care.

The kindy has been working on an outdoor master plan over the last four years with a natural rock amphitheatre, large undercover sandpit and water play area added to the extensive outdoor space.

The kindy has also improved its streetscape and planted native plants and is working towards new signage after winning a grant from Wattle Range Council.
