Night owls back in town

It was good to be back on the greens of Millicent Bowls Club after the Christmas New Year break from the Night Owls competition.

Play was supposed to recommence last week, but it was abandoned because of persistent rain.

It was great to greet our fellow night bowlers and enjoy some bowls, banter and chatter.

All players followed the COVID rules to the letter, wearing masks inside and distancing with two COVID Marshalls on duty.

The Beetles won Red Division after Sam Schofield, Tina Eriksen and Des King had a ticket to ride following the long and winding road to Red Division honours.

They defeated Tant Tigers 29+13, while other winners were Rovers 29+11, Untouchables 27+11, Jack Attack 27+6 and Max’s Four 27+3.

Blue Division honours went to Grand Hotel’s Jamie Veering, Chris Veering, Bill Chapman and Jim Taylor with 28+8.

Other winners were Try Hards 28+3, Maccas 26+9, Birdies 26+5, while Lion Rams had a draw 27+0.

Sunnies’ Bernie Bowman, Barb Leicester and Nigel Ross were on top of White Division beating Mayurra Mob 28+25, Lions Roar 28+3, Scrappers 27+16, The Pups 2+1 and Lion Cubs 26+3.

Touches were scored by Graham Watson (Bits & Pieces) 4, Shaun Osmond (Bedford Butterflies) 3, Robert Leslie (Somerset Seniors) 3 and Bill Chapman (Grand Hotel) 3.
