No carols for Millicent

No carols for Millicent

The austere surroundings of the Millicent Showgrounds shearing shed will not undergo their yearly transformation this December for a community carols night.

Carols in the Shearing Shed is usually held each year by the Millicent Baptist Church but COVID protocols are understood to have prompted its cancellation for the second consecutive year.

Over the past two decades, funds were generated for such local charities as St John volunteers, Millicent and District Hospital and the Millicent Cancer Support Group.

The yearly function dates back to the 1990s and has been held every year since with the exception of 2011 and 2020.

Onerous COVID requirements has led to the suspension of its weekly rehearsals for most of this year and so it will not be presenting its traditional Service of Nine Christmas Lessons and Carols.
