No more second chances on court

With the Mount Gambier and Districts Tennis Association 2023/24 season wrapping up on the weekend the stage is set for the top four teams in Division 1, 2 and 3 to battle it out for a shot at the flag.

Division 1

Uniting V Mount Gambier

First placed Uniting will take on fourth spot Mount Gambier in the semi finals.

Gambier squeaked its way into finals after the final round of the season was cancelled due to heat.

Gambier beat out last year’s champions Glencoe by only three points.

However, Uniting will be going into this game as heavy favourites over Mount Gambier, having only lost once all season.

The first time these two sides met, Uniting edged out a 7-5 victory over Gambier and the second meeting finished with Uniting completing a season sweep defeating Gambier 8-4.

West Gambier V Reidy Park

Second placed West Gambier will face third spot Reidy Park in the semi final.

Both sides have been dominant all season and along with Uniting being far above every other team.

The first time these sides met West got the better of Reidy with a 8-4 victory.

The second time Reidy levelled the score with an 8-4 victory.

With both sides getting the better of one another during the season it should be interesting to see who will come out on top in this exciting match up.

Division 2

Suttontown/Glencoe V Mil Lel/Reidy

Top of the ladder Suttontown/Glencoe will face fourth placed Mil Lel/Reidy in the Division 2 semi final.

Coming into this match up Suttontown/Glencoe is the far superior side finishing the season with nine wins and two losses to Mil Lel/Reidy’s three wins and seven losses.

Although their records are vastly different Suttontown/Glencoe only just beat Mil Lel/Reidy in their first match up in round one on games with the first place side winning 56-43.

In the other matchups Suttontown/Glencoe got the better of Mil Lel/Reidy.

West Gambier Blue V West Gambier Red

Second placed West Gambier Blue will face third spot West Gambier Red in another West derby.

These two sides are very similar, both having the same record but West Blue beat out West Red overall with eight more points.

In their first meeting West Blue claimed the bragging rights with a 9-3 victory.

The last time they faced each other West Red tied the season series with a 9-3 victory.

Both sides are very competitive with this match most likely coming down to the wire.

Division 3

First placed Mount Gambier will face fourth position Glencoe in the Div 3 semi final.

Gambier has been very dominant all season, only losing once all year.

Glencoe on the other hand has had an up and down season winning five and losing seven.

Gambier won 8-4 the first time they met this season, while the second and third times were much closer with Gambier winning on games in both matchups.

With Glencoe getting close to beating Gambier in their last two match ups it will be interesting to see if they can get over the hump in the semi final.

Second placed Centrals take on third spot Uniting/Glencoe in the semi final.

When they played each other in round one Centrals got the win 7-5.

The second time Uniting/Glencoe got one back on Centrals, winning 8-4.

With the season series tied both sides will be hungry to get the win and make it to the big dance.
