Penola persistence pays off with win over Bordertown

The Eagles came out ready for a tough game against Bordertown on Saturday.

Both teams started the game strong, with the score line staying quite tight for the first quarter.

With each quarter the Eagles were able to pull away a little further, however, Bordertown were able to make hard work of this with some accurate shooting and physical defence.

Penola’s goalies were able to adjust their game to find space in the circle with Siobhan Adams and Ashley Merrett getting some strong drives onto the circle for effective feeding.

Bordertown’s attack used low balls in the goal circle to keep the Penola defence working hard to get around bodies.

In the end it was persistence in attack and whole court defence that saw Penola take a nine goal win for the day, 42-33

Siobhan Adams and Ashley Merrett were the Eagles’ bets players.

Meanwhile, the Penola Netball Club celebrated two milestones for the weekend, with Karly Honner and Chloe Clayfield playing their 150th games.
