The Mount Gambier Eisteddfod finished up for 2024 with the Music Division which showcased performers and bands playing piano, brass, woodwind, guitar, percussion, strings and recorder.
Audiences were treated to two days of talent from budding and more experienced musicians at the Wehl Street Theatre.
The competition was adjudicated by local Laura Small, who is an accomplished musician well versed in a range of instruments and vocal work.
Ms Small is a founding member of the Corner Big Pocket band who have played at various jazz festivals in Australia and entertained audiences locally.
Members of the committee were grateful for Ms Small’s work and positive, constructive feedback to the competitors.
Lakes Rotary Blue Lake Fun Run scholarship winners were William Judd for strings, Gordon Farrugia for woodwind and Maya Boyington for guitar.
The Lions Club of Mount Gambier Under 12 Encouragement Award went to Aria Milgate, the Peter Ulyett Memorial trophy was awarded to Bien Jarloyan, and the best Strings Performance was presented to William Judd.
The music committee would like to thank major sponsors Grant District Council, Lakes Rotary, Lions Club of Mount Gambier, Your Podiatrist and Stringbach Music.
The eisteddfod will return in 2025 in the July school holidays, beginning with dance.
