An explanation has been given why the Optus telecommunications tower at the Robe Football Oval has yet to be erected.
A commissioner of the Environment, Resources and Development Court gave the green light for its erection several months ago after he dismissed an appeal to its location by nearby residents.
Robe District Council has been queried about the delay by a local ratepayer and its chief executive James Holyman has given this reply.
“A decision from the courts took longer than expected and this delayed final development approval,” Mr Holyman said.
“Also, as part of negotiations with Optus, Robe District Council asked that construction did not occur during our peak season.
“Agreements have been signed with Optus and they are working on the final project plan for the infrastructure.
“Council will notify the community once a final timeline is determined and shared with us by Optus.”
Optus will be paying a four-figure sum to the sporting body each year as a lease fee.
