Police hunt hoon driver

Police are seeking help from the Mount Gambier community to identify a dangerous hoon driver.

About 2.15pm on Saturday, October 10, police received a dozen complaints from the public regarding a silver Ford AU sedan driving dangerously on Jubilee Highway East and other roads across Mount Gambier.

The vehicle was missing its number plates as well as its rear bumper.

Incidents were reported on Kennedy Avenue, North Terrace, Penola Road, Boandik Terrace and Hanson, Ayres and Cockburn streets.

A number of people standing outside a hotel on Jubilee Highway East were filming the incidents and appeared to be encouraging the dangerous behaviours of the driver.

Those videos have since been posted on social media.

The vehicle was recovered dumped on Monday morning.

Officer in Charge of the Limestone Coast Local Service Area, Superintendent Phil Hoff said the male driver was yet to be identified.

“Such a cavalier attitude to the safety of others is unfathomable. His manner of driving caused enormous danger and risk to the public and other road users,” he said.

“The labelling of the social media images in relation to this behaviour belies ignorance and immaturity.

There are people in the community who know who this individual is and we need their assistance to deal with him firmly.

An imbecile such as this will inevitably kill or injure someone or themselves.” Police urge anyone with information to contact police on 131 444 visit www.
