President’s day brings out bumper bocce field

In what was a spectacular day of bocce, the Italo Australian Club put on a display worthy of recognising the club’s present and past presidents in the President’s Bocce Competition.

Thirty-six players in 12 teams competed for the prestigious trophies, with the teams represented by a wide variety of ages and talent.

The oldest player in the competition was the club stalwart and club champion Frank Capriotti, with many of his family members including daughter Franca Armandi, daughter-in-Law Judy Capriotti and grandsons Michael Capriotti and Andrew Armandi.

The day was made even more special as Frank Capriotti celebrated his 96th birthday.

The youngest team were represented by Luke Weatherall, Andrew Armandi and Tristan (Marco) Guess who participated in the annual event.

In what was a fantastic final that went down to the wire, the team consisting of Angelo Bueti, Teresa Bueti and John Williamson beat second place Frank Capriotti, Judy Capriotti and Andrew Armandi, winning 12 – 8.

Third place was taken out by Vince Mancuso, Peggy Moretti and Luigina Breslon who defeated Remi Pace, Lina Cella and Brayden Patzel.

Representing the past presidents on the day were Joe D’Agostino, Eric Nieto and Tony D’Agostino.
