It was a hard fought win for the Eagles as they faced Lucindale in the weekend’s round of KNT matches.
Penola started with the momentum, quickly settling in and delivering some nice balls into their goal circle.
The early momentum had Penola ahead by five at the quarter time break.
In the second quarter Lucindale increased their defensive pressure while implementing some hard and fast attack.
The Eagles made a few changes to their team which saw the team resettle and slow the momentum of the Roos.
Penola’s defence worked hard to turn over some important balls and convert with accurate finishes, however Lucindale had closed the margin to three by half time.
The intensity of the game continued into the second half with Lucindale contesting every ball.
Penola was able to continue chipping away, navigating through the tight defence and picking off some loose balls in defence.
Heading into the last quarter Penola had a four goal lead.
Although there were plenty of turned balls from both teams, the Eagles were able to hold their heads steady and put out a solid final quarter.
Defence stood up to turn plenty of balls while the attack line found their space and finished accurately.
It was a hard fought win for the Eagles, finishing with a seven goal lead, 54-47.
