Almost 300 people gathered in Mount Gambier on Saturday as part of a worldwide rally for “freedom”.
Those attending met in Vansittart Park and marched to the Cave Gardens, walking “for our basic human rights, we walk for our freedom, we walk to raise awareness”.
The World Wide Rally For Freedom encourages people to push back against coronavirus related restrictions in their countries.
More than 40 countries and 150 cities around the
world united on Saturday to stand for freedom.
The movement encouraged people to take a stand for freedom of speech, movement, choice, assembly and freedom of health.
A rally spokesperson said Saturday’s rally “was not about vaccines”.
“This rally was about ceasing the current State of Emergency which enforces mandates, travel restrictions and social restrictions,” the spokesperson said.
“There is not one person who has not been impacted by COVID-19 whether it be not being able to attend a funeral, not being able to see family for a long period of time, working from home, etc we have all been impacted in one way or another.”
