Millicent Bowls Club held its annual Australia Day Herb Henderson event last week with a maximum of 96 players taking part.
The format of the day was one game of 15 ends followed by two games of 12 ends while John Buhlmann led the group in singing the National Anthem
Players travelled from Nhill, Warrnambool, Robe, Port MacDonnell, Naracoorte, Kingston, Mount Gambier and Mount Gambier RSL to take part in the day.
Just before going in for lunch the game was interrupted with some very heavy rain and thunder, but play was able to recommence with the weather finning after lunch to ensure all games were completed.
The winning team with three wins and a total of 88 points went to Adam Wilson, Glen Wright, Keith Dowdel and Tim Wrightson.
The quartet overcame Wayne Ross, Brad Errock, Zac Pearson and Peter Reppin, who finished in second place with a score of 86.5.
It was a thrilling battle for the runner-up spot with the team winning on a count back from Brian Roper, Arthur O’Connell, Peter Scanlon and Sam Schofield, who also had 86.5 points.
