Mother Nature severely disrupted round two of the Mount Gambier and Districts Tennis Association matches on the weekend with wet conditions not allowing the majority of players to take the court.

Only one division one fixture was able to take place with Mount Schank dominated by Uniting.

The host’s Mount Schank suffered an 8-1 defeat from the visitors, with Uniting leading from the get-go.

In the opening singles match, Uniting’s Andrew Vandenhurk was in excellent form, securing a dominant 6-0 victory over Mount Schank’s Will Boston.

The seconvzd match had Kobe Cole of Uniting asserting his authority over Brendan McInnes from the home team with a final score of 6-2.

The third match, featuring Alex Laube against Jace Maxwell, saw Laube lead 2-1, although the match remained incomplete due to wet conditions.

The fourth match, with Tessa Megaw leading Abbey Hood 3-0, was another incomplete affair.

Uniting’s Jade Delaney hit the court against Bella Laube in the fifth singles.

It concluded with a 6-2 victory for Laube, giving Mount Schank hope of a comeback with its first win of the day.

The last match featured Vanessa Maxwell, who had no trouble with Lucy Savage taking an emphatic 6-0 win for Uniting.

The doubles contests were a similar story with Uniting winning all five matches.

In the first the duo of Vandenhurk and Cole overpowered their opponents for another win, with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 over Mount Schank’s Boston and McInnes.

The second match witnessed another dominating performance by Uniting with Maxwell and Moon securing a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Laube and Ralston.

In the third match Megaw and Dunn stopped any fightback, triumphing with a score of 6-1, 6-0 against the duo of Hood and Laube.

The fourth match once again went in favour of Uniting as Megaw and Maxwell combined forces to clinch a convincing 6-1, 6-0 win over Hood and Savage.

The fifth and final doubles match result encapsulated the day as a whole for both teams, with Dunn and Delaney sealing the deal with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Laube and Savage in a convincing loss for Mount Schank.

Division two was also severely restricted by the wet conditions with the match between Mount Schank and Mil Lel being the only completed match.

The two sides traded the lead before Mount Schank won three in a row, to take the scoreline to 4-2.

Aynslee Hayman and Jorja Dougals held on in a 5-7 win in their doubles match.

Hayman and Jessica Douglas faced off against Mount Schank’s Zoe Butler and Paige Telford in the final doubles rubber.

Telford and Butler were unable to gain any advantage over their opponents and Hayman and Douglas outplayed them to win 3-6.

Mount Schank secured a narrow 5-4 victory over Mil Lel.

No matches in Division three could be completed due to the wet court conditions.

Two out of the three matches were able to be completed in the A boys.

Glencoe comfortably defeated Mount Gambier Blue 5-1, with a standout performance from Sam Haese and Hamish Gordon in their doubles match winning 6-0.

Over at Uniting Tennis Club, Uniting secured a comfortable 6-0 win over Mount Schank/Mil Lel.

Despite the one-sided scoreline Mount Schank/Mil Lel came close to winning several sets but were just edged out by Uniting.

The A Girls matches were all unable to be finished with a result.
