Region to send year off in style

Limestone Coast residents will join the rest of the world in sending off the year that was on December 31.

While 2021 has been a year of tragedy, heartache and loneliness for many with the ongoing prevalence of COVID-19, it has also been a year scattered with moments of hope, happiness and laughter.

Whatever the year held for you, it is a time for new beginnings, welcoming the year of 2022 and the surprises that come with it.

Even though this year’s events will be quieter in terms of celebrations there are still events taking place around the Limestone Coast to celebrate the new year.

Robe will celebrate the momentous occasion early with their New Year’s Eve fireworks being set off on Christmas Eve which can be viewed around Robe from approximately 9:30pm.

Beachport is celebrating with a New Year’s Day Tournament at the Beachport Golf Course. Hit off is from 10am and entry is $30 inclusive of afternoon tea.

The Port MacDonnell Community Complex Coordinator Narelle Pignotti said Grant District Council understandably did not have any New Year’s events happening this year due to people opting to host personal celebrations, family commitments and the restrictions and caution surrounding COVID-19.

The Beachport New Year’s Eve fireworks will also not go ahead this year.
