Regional Lego fans in for a treat

Emma Robinson is rebuilding Empak Homes BrickGambier 2021 one brick at a time after the event came tumbling down last year due to COVID.

The popular event will take place on October 3 and 4 at the Mount Gambier Showgrounds with 60 minute and 30 minute sessions starting at 10am and finishing at 5pm.

“Limited tickets have been released in adherence to the one person per four square metres density rule in case something was to happen in the weeks leading up to the event,” Mrs Robinson said.

Mrs Robinson said more tickets would be released closer to the event in accordance with the density requirements at the time.

A sensory friendly session will take place on Monday morning at 9am giving families or individuals the opportunity to enjoy the event without the sensory overload that some people experience.

This session will have limited numbers and any exhibits with bright or flashing lights will be turned off.

Mrs Robinson said there will be about 25 exhibitors showing from as far away as Perth.

“Most of the displays people are bringing to the event they have created themselves and cannot be bought off the shelf,” she said.

“In previous years we have been able to have a play building area for children but unfortunately because of SA Health requirements that cannot go ahead which is a shame.”

Mrs Robinson said there would still be a chance for children to get involved through the 2021 kids’ building competition open to children aged 5-14 sponsored by the Brick Lady.

The Brick Lady will attend the event providing people with the opportunity to buy new, used and even retired Lego sets.

All entries to the competition are to be delivered to the show halls at the Mount Gambier Showgrounds on Saturday, October 2 between 10am and 12pm.

Mrs Robinson said she was looking forward to this year’s event, which had been well supported.

“We really appreciate Empak Homes’ ongoing support of BrickGambier every year,” she said.

“Lego is more than just a children’s toy.”

Tickets can be purchased online at www.brickgambier.com.au to guarantee a session time with any remaining tickets being sold at the door.
