Region’s shooters take on spring challenge

The South East Field and Game Association recently held a 75-target event sponsored by Mount Gambier Rural Supplies, Russell Industries and Pick Ave Bakery and Deli.

Perfect spring weather conditions greeted the 77 shooters that nominated for the Father’s Day Sporting Clay at Burrungule Park.

Ron Rhook claimed the Gambier Shooting Supplies High Gun after a shoot off with Jeremy Kent.

Both competitors tied on 71/75 targets, but Rhook prevailed in the intense shoot off for the top prize.

The two-person family team shoot was won by Jeremy and Neville Kent, whilst the top handicap team was Scott and Reece Fleming.

The Gambier Shooting Supplies High Gun award was awarded to Rhook after he only missed four targets in the 75-target event.

AA Grade honours went to Jeremy Kent ahead of Daniel Ashby and Jamie Dunn.

In A Grade Chris Von Stanke Snr was good in his grade winning from Tim Widdison and Bill Dyson.

B Grade was a close one with Darren Murrell taking first place ahead of Charles Wallis and Frank Kentish.

Ben McRostie claimed C Grade by three targets with Scott Fleming and Stuart Bowd rounding out the podium.

The Seniors grade had a good contest with Chris Wright edging ahead of Greg Kessagian and Leigh Dunn

In Veterans Neville Kent outshot Chris Von Stanke Snr and Ernie Scheidl.

Tasha Bellinger had an enjoyable day out in the ladies contest winning by 11 targets from Nicola Dunn and Emma Lawford

Declan Wright was judged as the Juniors winner by four targets from Ben Hastings and Brodie Von Stanke-Dowie

The Sub-Juniors shot very well in the conditions and it was Kain Ashby winning from Shakielle Von Stanke and James Whitty.
