Rivoli Bay Sailing Club heads to shore

Waning interest has prompted the demise of the Rivoli Bay Sailing Club.

Affiliated with Yachting SA, it has been an off the beach sailing organisation located in Southend.

Since its inception in 1968, the club had offered social, recreational and competition for both youth and adults.

The sailing season ran over the warmer months and a number of competitions were staged in the protected waters off Southend.

Clubrooms with commanding views of Rivoli Bay were erected in the early 1980s.

Past Rivoli Bay Sailing Club members have recently been approached but there was insufficient interest to continue.

Club member Phil Golding will reflect on its history when he addresses the October 24 monthly meeting in Millicent of the South East Family History Group.
